Mayor Dean Ball Dear Residents & Visitors: Welcome to our new web site. This design has been a long time in the making – and we have worked diligently to ensure that you have a visitor-friendly web site with updated information to best suit your needs. Please take your time and have a look around. If you do not live in our beautiful community – why not plan to visit. There’s lots of to do in our town, lots of local attractions and interests and great locals to chat with. Why not take a turn at salmon fishing or swim in the beautiful Deer Lake from which we are named. There is also the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex which boasts great hockey, swimming all year round and a wonderful bowling program for all ages. Nearby we have a state of the art golf course, the unique Newfoundland Insectarium and just down the road are two wonderful parks; the picturesque Gros Morne National Park and the Sir Richard Squires Provincial Park… or just in our town we have our own hidden treasurer – the Deer Lake Municipal Park. Deer Lake is your connector town for your voyages beyond our doors through our local Airport, and is a junction town to the Viking Trail and the Labrador Ferry. If you have a need, it is within our doorstep. Fantastic shopping, numerous restaurants, hotels for your overnight stays, Bed and Breakfast homes that will make your trip a memorable event - and even camping in our two local parks.
